Swiping on dating apps isn’t working anymore

How it all started

I’ve talked to countless people about the struggle of dating apps. They’ve become a whole new beast. You are superficially swiping photos and having no luck connecting, or someone might just be trying to get in your pants.

It’s happened to me, practically every form of disappointment. After a terrible date in the middle of the pandemic, I thought how awful it was to have shared my space with someone who could potentially give me COVID, and on top of that we weren’t compatible in the least. I sat down and thought, “How can I change this for others?”

This is when I started my matchmaking “project.” It started small, but turns out, it’s working. Now I have a growing pool of people that I send on dates weekly. It’s not a fast process, but these are dates where each person has individually signed up for the same reason, to find love.

It started with a simple sign that I posted on telephone poles throughout my neighborhood. Very soon, I found out that people outside the area wanted a connection too.

Currently, I am matching individuals in the Portland Metro area. If you are outside this area, you can sign up, but all dates will take place in Portland (unless your match happens to be in your city.)
